Impact marks, granule loss, damaged flashing, and cracked siding panels all take a close look to find. Finding them quickly protects both your home and your ability to file an insurance claim.

02 / What We Inspect
We Check the Roof, Siding, and Gutters.
Our post-storm inspections cover the full exterior roof and siding system. Here’s what we look at, piece by piece.
Roof Surface
We get on the roof and examine every section. On asphalt roofs, we check for hail impact marks, granule loss, cracked shingles, and bruising. On cedar shake, we look for splits and fractures. On DaVinci composite, we check for surface damage and any spots where the material has been compromised.
Flashing
All penetration points get checked, including chimneys, skylights, pipe boots, vent stacks, and wall transitions. We look for hail dents, separations, and lifted seals. These are the spots where leaks start, so we don’t skip them.
Ridge & Hip Caps
Ridge material cracks and lifts from hail impact and wind. We walk the full ridge line and check the hip caps so nothing along the top of the roof gets missed.
Gutters & Downspouts
Hail dents gutters and downspouts. We check the full gutter system for damage and note any sections that have pulled away from the fascia or otherwise been compromised.
Siding (When It Applies)
When a storm likely hit the siding as well as the roof, we include a visual inspection of the siding, checking for cracks, punctures, dents, and separated panels. See our siding page for what we look for on each material type.
Your Written Report
After the inspection, you get a written summary of what we found. That includes photos of damaged areas, a description of the damage type and extent, and our take on whether repair, replacement, or no action is the right call.
03 / Why It’s the Right First Step
Don't Wait for Symptoms Inside the House.
A lot of homeowners wait to schedule an inspection because they haven’t seen any signs inside. That’s the wrong call. Symptoms show up inside the home only after water has been working through the roof system for a while. By then, the damage is bigger and more expensive to fix.
Post-storm inspections are also the entry point for an insurance claim. Your homeowners policy covers storm damage, but you need documentation of that damage to file a valid claim. We provide that documentation as part of the inspection.
There’s a timing piece too. Homeowners insurance policies require that claims be filed within a reasonable period after the storm. Waiting too long, or waiting until symptoms appear inside, can put you outside the claims window. Getting inspected promptly protects your ability to make a claim.

We Schedule the Repairs
Once the claim is approved, we schedule the repairs. The process is handled on our side, so you’re not left figuring out how insurance and roofing contractors are supposed to work together.

We'll introduce ourselves, explain what we're going to look at, and get on the roof to do the inspection. We usually spend 30 to 60 minutes on a standard residential inspection, longer for larger or more complex roofs. After we come down, we'll walk you through what we found on the spot and follow up with the written report.
