Most hail and wind damage isn’t visible from the ground. You can’t reliably tell by looking up at it. The signs that do show, like granules collecting in gutters, dented flashing, or missing shingles, are real indicators, but their absence doesn’t mean the roof wasn’t hit. A professional inspection from a contractor who actually gets on the roof is the only reliable way to know. After a big storm, that inspection is free.
Most standard homeowners policies cover hail and wind damage to roofs, siding, and gutters when it’s caused by a covered weather event. Whether your claim is approved and how much it covers depends on your policy, your deductible, and how well the damage is documented. Having a contractor who documents thoroughly and talks directly with your adjuster makes a real difference in how a claim settles.
Call us first. We inspect and document the damage before any insurance conversation begins, and that documentation is what the claim is built on. If you call your insurer before having an independent inspection, they may send their own adjuster while you have no proof of your own, which puts you at a disadvantage.
