Homeowners Insurance Claim Help for Roof and Storm Damage.
The claim process after storm damage is one of the most stressful parts of being a homeowner. We work directly with your insurance company so you don't have to handle it alone. We take care of the documentation, the adjuster, and the follow-up.
01 / The Claim Process
You're Already Dealing With the Damage. The Paperwork Shouldn't Be On You Too.
After a storm hits, you have to understand your policy, document everything correctly, manage an adjuster you’ve never met, and figure out what’s covered and what isn’t. Most homeowners aren’t set up to do that well, and mistakes in the process can mean a smaller settlement or a denied claim.
RX Roofing & Construction works directly with your homeowners insurance company so you don’t have to handle it alone. We take care of the documentation, the adjuster communication, and the follow-up. You stay informed on the major decisions without having to learn the insurance process from scratch.
02 / What’s Covered
What Homeowners Insurance Covers.
Standard homeowners policies in our area cover storm damage to roofs and exterior materials when that damage comes from a covered weather event, usually hail, wind, and lightning. What gets covered depends on your specific policy terms, your deductible, and how thoroughly the damage is documented.
Roof Damage
Hail impact damage, wind damage, and storm-related structural failures are commonly covered. The key variable is documentation. An adjuster who sees limited or ambiguous proof may value the damage lower or narrow the approved scope.
An adjuster who receives clear photos, written damage assessments, and a repair estimate from an experienced contractor has less room to do that.
Siding Damage
Hail and wind damage to vinyl, fiber cement, and brick siding is typically covered under the same claim as roof damage when it comes from the same event.
When only part of the siding is damaged and replacement of those panels won’t match the rest of the home, policies often cover full re-siding for a uniform look. This is a coverage point that gets missed when homeowners manage claims without contractor support.
Gutters
Hail-damaged and storm-separated gutters are covered when they’re part of a broader storm damage claim. We coordinate the gutter work with your roof and siding so it all moves through one claim and one schedule.
What isn’t covered: wear and tear, maintenance issues, and damage that predates the storm are typically excluded. This is why having a contractor who can clearly separate storm damage from pre-existing wear matters when your adjuster reviews the claim.
03 / The Steps
How We Handle the Claims Process.
Here’s what working with RX on an insurance claim looks like from start to finish.
01
Free Inspection & Documentation
We come out and inspect your roof, siding, and gutters after the storm. We document every area of damage with photos and written notes. This inspection report is the foundation of the claim.
02
Filing the Claim
We can help you file the claim with your insurer, or support you in doing it yourself, depending on what you prefer. Either way, we provide the inspection documentation that backs the filing.
03
Adjuster Meeting
When your insurance company sends an adjuster to assess the damage, we’re there. We walk the adjuster through what we found, answer questions about the scope and materials, and make sure the damage is assessed fully rather than minimally.
04
Claim Review & Approval
If the adjuster’s assessment comes back lower than our documented scope warrants, we work through the dispute process on your behalf. This is a common step, and one that homeowners managing claims on their own often don’t push back on.
05
Completing the Work
Once the claim is approved, we complete the approved repairs or replacement. You pay your deductible. Insurance covers the rest up to the approved amount.
06
You Stay Informed
You don’t have to learn the claims process from scratch. We keep you in the loop on the major decisions and handle the back-and-forth so you can focus on getting your home back to normal.
Insurance Adjusters Assess Damage for a Living. You Shouldn't Face That Alone.
A homeowner managing a claim without contractor support is at a real disadvantage when it comes to scope disputes, coverage interpretation, and understanding whether a settlement is fair. We've helped homeowners across the Chicago area get through the claims process with results that reflect what the storm actually cost them.
That's not because we fabricate damage. It's because we document what's there accurately, we have a clear picture of the construction costs, and we don't accept the first number without reviewing it against our own assessment.

04 / Common Questions
Common Questions About the Claims Process.
Insurance companies vary on how they handle claims. Around here, a single hail damage claim from a weather event generally has less impact on premiums than an at-fault claim. Your insurance agent is the right person to ask about your specific policy.
Policies differ on whether they pay actual cash value or replacement cost value. Actual cash value factors in depreciation. Replacement cost value covers the full cost of replacement with similar materials. If your policy pays actual cash value and your roof has depreciated a lot, the settlement may not cover the full replacement cost. We’ll help you understand what your policy says and what to expect.
No. Our inspection is yours to use however you choose. We hope to do the work, but you’re not obligated to hire us because we inspected the roof.
Possibly, but time matters. Policies in our area have claim filing windows, and waiting too long can affect your ability to collect. If you suspect damage from a storm earlier this season, schedule an inspection now rather than putting it off further.
