01 / Storm Damage in the Chicago Area
The Chicago Area Takes a Beating From the Weather.
Spring and summer hailstorms, high winds, and severe thunderstorms damage roofs, siding, and gutters across the area every year. A lot of that damage gets missed because it isn’t visible from the ground, and homeowners don’t realize their roof or siding has a problem until water shows up inside.
RX Roofing & Construction is a local storm damage restoration contractor. We inspect, document, and repair storm damage to roofs and siding throughout the area, and we work directly with your insurance company through the entire claims process. You don’t have to figure out the insurance side on your own.
02 / What We Restore After a Storm
We Restore the Whole Home, Not Just the Roof.
After a storm event, we look at the full exterior. Here is what storms do to each part of your home, and how we handle it.
Roof Damage
Hail and high winds damage shingles, flashing, ridge caps, and gutters. On asphalt roofs, hail impact can displace granules and crack the shingle surface in ways that don’t fail immediately but compromise the roof’s remaining life.
On cedar shake and composite roofs, hail causes splitting and surface fracturing. We inspect the full roof system, document what we find, and repair or replace what’s needed.
Siding Damage
Hail cracks, dents, and in some cases punches through vinyl siding. It chips and fractures fiber cement panels. Even on tougher materials, repeated impacts from large hail events can compromise the protective surface.
Wind can separate siding panels, loosen fasteners, and create entry points for moisture behind the wall.
Gutter Damage
Hail dents gutters and downspouts. Wind tears gutter sections away from the fascia. Debris from storm events can clog and overload gutters.
We repair and replace gutters as part of full storm restoration when damage warrants it.
Free post-storm inspections. After a storm event, we come out and inspect your roof and exterior at no charge. We tell you what was damaged, document it properly, and give you a clear picture of what the repair scope looks like before you make any decisions.
03 / The Insurance Claims Process
We Handle the Whole Claim, Start to Finish.
Most storm damage to roofs and siding in the Chicago area is covered under a standard homeowners insurance policy. Getting through the claims process without losing money in the gaps requires the right documentation and someone who knows how to work with insurance adjusters.
01
We Inspect & Document
We inspect and document all damage with photos and written assessments the same day we come out. That documentation goes directly to your insurance company.
02
We Work the Adjuster
We communicate with the adjuster on your behalf and follow up through approval. If there are disputes about scope or coverage, we’re in the conversation with you.
03
We Complete the Repairs
When the claim is approved, we complete the repairs. One contractor handles the roof, siding, and gutters together, on one schedule.
The difference between a fully covered claim and a partially denied one often comes down to how thoroughly the damage was documented and whether the contractor can speak knowledgeably with the adjuster about scope and costs. That’s experience we bring.
Storm Damage Gets Worse if It Sits.
Compromised shingles allow water to reach the underlayment and decking. Cracked siding lets moisture behind the wall. Separated gutters create runoff problems that damage the foundation. A small repair today is less work and less cost than the same damage after another rain cycle.
There's also a claims deadline factor. Homeowners insurance policies typically require that claims be filed within a reasonable period after the damage occurred. Waiting months to have your roof inspected can put you outside the window for a valid claim. If a storm recently hit your area, schedule an inspection before that window closes.
- Small Repair Now Beats a Big One Later
- File Before the Claims Window Closes
- Catch Hidden Damage Before It Leaks
04 / A Word on Storm Chasers
After a Big Hailstorm, the Out-of-Town Crews Show Up. We Never Left.
After every significant hail event in the Chicago area, the area fills with roofing crews from out of state and out of region. Some have legitimate operations. Many don’t. We’ve been building our reputation in the Chicago market for years, and we’ll be here after your job is done. Our office address, contractor license, and insurance certificates are available before we start any work.
- They pressure you to sign a contingency agreement on the spot
- They disappear after the claim check arrives, before the work is done
- They can't be reached when a warranty issue comes up months later
