Siding Repair in the Chicago Area.

Damaged siding isn't just an eyesore. Once the surface is cracked, punctured, or pulled apart, moisture can work its way behind the panels and into the wall. We repair vinyl, fiber cement, and brick siding on homes throughout the Chicago area.

01 / Why Siding Repair Matters

Damaged Siding Lets Water Into the Wall.

Damaged siding isn’t just an eyesore. Once the surface of the siding is cracked, punctured, or separated, moisture can work its way behind the panels and into the wall cavity. Over time, that leads to insulation damage, wood rot in the sheathing, and in some cases mold. Catching siding damage early and repairing it correctly protects the wall structure behind it, not just the exterior appearance.

RX Roofing & Construction handles siding repair on vinyl, fiber cement, and brick siding throughout the Chicago area. We work with all three material types, and we give you a straight answer on whether a repair is the right call or whether replacement makes more sense.

02 / Signs Your Siding Needs Repair

Some Damage Is Obvious. Some Is Easy to Miss.

A large crack in a panel, a section blown off by wind, or a hole from hail is hard to miss. Other damage is more subtle. Here is what to look for around your home.

Cracks & Splits

Cracks or splits in vinyl panels, even small ones, and chipped edges or surface fracturing on fiber cement.

Buckled or Pulled-Away Panels

Panels that have buckled, warped, or pulled away from the wall, plus gaps at seams, corners, or around openings where the seal has failed.

Moisture Clues

Soft spots or discoloration near the base of the siding, and paint peeling on interior walls, both can signal moisture in the wall behind the panels.

Watch for hail impact marks too: circular dents in vinyl, chips on fiber cement, or dents in metal trim. If you’ve had a recent hailstorm and haven’t had your siding looked at, call us to schedule an inspection. Hail damage is often present without being obvious from a distance.

03 / What We Repair

Targeted Repairs on All Three Materials.

We repair the material you have, not a one-size answer. On most vinyl siding, individual panels can be removed and replaced without disturbing the surrounding sections. When the damage is isolated, a targeted repair can restore both the protection and the appearance without redoing the whole wall.

One honest limitation on vinyl: matching older panels exactly isn’t always possible. Colors fade over time, and manufacturers discontinue profiles. We’ll let you know whether a match is achievable or whether a visual compromise is involved before we start.

04 / Repair by Material

How Each Repair Actually Works.

Vinyl Siding Repair

We replace cracked, punctured, or badly dented vinyl panels. On most vinyl, individual panels come off and go back on without disturbing the rest of the wall. When the damage is isolated, a targeted repair restores both the protection and the look without replacing the whole side of the home.

Fiber Cement Repair

Chipped or cracked fiber cement panels can be replaced section by section, and the surface can be painted to match. Because fiber cement holds paint well, a repair done properly often blends in so the patch isn’t obvious from the street.

Brick Siding Repair

Brick veneer repairs usually mean replacing damaged individual bricks, repointing mortar joints, and fixing any flashing or waterproofing failures where the brick meets the wall. Mortar match and brick color take care, and we work to match your existing material as closely as we can.

One of the most common sources of moisture getting into a siding system isn’t the panels themselves. It’s the flashing and sealing at transitions, openings, and penetrations. We inspect and repair these areas wherever they’ve failed, because that’s often where the real leak starts.

05 / Repair vs. Full Replacement

We Tell You Which One Your Home Actually Needs.

A targeted repair is the right call when the damage is isolated, the rest of the siding is in good shape, and a material match is achievable. Full replacement makes more sense in a few situations.

We’ll assess the situation honestly and tell you which direction makes sense for your specific home and budget. For details on the full range of materials and installation services we offer, see our siding page.

06 / Storm Damage & Insurance Claims

Hail Damage to Siding Is Often Covered.

Hail damage to siding is frequently covered under homeowners insurance policies, often as part of the same claim as roof damage from the same storm. We document siding damage with photos and written assessments that support the claim, and we work directly with your insurance adjuster through the approval process. If a storm recently came through your area and you're not sure whether your siding was affected, we'll come out and inspect it.
